Four weeks in

This past week we have:

- finished one craft project and started another
- visited A&E (I broke my toe)
- mastered rolling over and over and over.....
- baked our first ever Victoria sponge
- found our toes

A few pics of the cake (nom!), a teeny footprint and the little bean playing with the blanket I made her.

In a bubble

I feel a bit like I'm living in a bubble this week, while the real world goes on outside. It's not unpleasant, just a little strange. Maybe it's all the cake I've eaten.

Here's just some of this week's cake intake, from an afternoon tea with friends at home.

Rock and Roll, baby

The little bean rolled onto her tum for the first time today. I feel so proud I could burst! (as did she by the little look on her face after!).

Here's the initial look of shock as she realised she'd finally flipped herself over. Clever girl.

Like a walk in the park

The winter sun sparkling on the lake during a walk in the park with friends.

Three weeks in

This week we have:

- started a craft project
- forgotten how to sleep (yawwwnnnn)
- spent time with lovely friends
- been to the baby cinema to see 'The Artist' (truly brilliant)
- looked after a poorly Daddy
- been for a long winter walk
- spent a lot of time rolling and shouting!
- eaten a LOT of cake

A few pictures of the little bean and Daddy at the cinema, the bean snug in her winter coat after a long winter walk and homemade (actually by me!) rocky road cupcakes. Nom.

Zzzzzzz

En route to bed last night, shattered after a day of bouncing, rolling and shouting. Did this mean the little bean finally may have slept longer than two hours without waking up? No. No, it did not. Yawn.

Us

What a lovely, relaxed day at home. Full of cuddles, captured beautifully by Daddy.

Two weeks in

This week we have:

- had a Swedish lunch out with our lovely friends at IKEA
- met a new bunch of mums and babies at the local new mums group
- had tea and gorgeous date scones and played with our NCT buddies
- had a whole new wardrobe of baby clothes to choose from after moving up a size (we're in 3-6 months now, whoopee!)
- had our new mums sewing course cancelled (aboo), but have committed to spending that time being creative (or attempting to!)
- had our 3rd immunisations (grumpy babe but more sleep for Mummy... every cloud and all that)
- been to the baby cinema to watch 'The Help' with Daddy in tow too
- got filmed for some BBC world service feature
- experimented making lots of new noises
- dressed up for 4 month photos
- went to the opening of our lovely friends exhibition
- had Sunday dinner made for us by visiting family
- (and last but definitely not least) have discovered the joys of teething (thank goodness for Calpol, is all I can say)

Here's the babe in new stripes. I'm hoping the clashing colours will distract from the pain of teething.

Glamourie

We took a little family trip to the opening of 'Glamourie' at PSL, Leeds on Friday. Our lovely friend was exhibiting her work, so we were very happy to go along and show our support.

The exhibition was fantastic, really exciting with a great range of work. We had a fab time and it felt brilliant going out after dark for once. I left feeling culturally stimulated and positive. Even the little bean seemed to enjoy herself, she soon forgot about her post-jabs grump and soaked up the atmosphere around her. Goodness, she slept well afterwards too.

An achievement in food

Last night I reached a new level of motherhood. I actually managed to make myself a proper dinner, from scratch, with no help. A spinach and potato bake. It was really yum. High five me.

Hands

Hands are brilliant. You can do all sorts with hands. You can grab things. And bash things. And chew them. I love my hands.

One week in

Well, the first week of the year (and first week of being home alone without Daddy in over a month) has flown by. In fact, my attempt to fill it with fun family events, may have taken it to the point of being frantic. Oopsy. Oh well, we've still enjoyed ourselves!

This week we have:

- been bargain hunting in the sales, a mere three times (!)
- met up with friends for tea and cake
- bounced a lot
- treated ourselves to freshly cut flowers
- dribbled a lot
- booked ourselves on to a 'bring your own baby' new mums creative sewing course (I'm intrigued as to how that will work!)
- upgraded from Moses basket to cot
- registered onto the local new mums group
- started doing big belly laughs
- been to the cinema for the 'bring your own baby' families and babies showing

Phew!

A few piccies of sales bargains, the babe enjoying the film at the baby cinema and new flowers.

Crimbob

Awww, baby's first Christmas. It was super special and our little bean was super spoilt, even though she didn't have a clue what was going on (though she totally appreciated the expertly gift wrapped pressies, obviously).

Highlights of Crimbob included: stuffing our faces, dressing the babe up in various novelty Christmas outfits, beautiful winter sunsets, having my first (and last) alcoholic drink of 2011, rediscovering my love of coffee (not related, honestly!!) and big, cosy, family Christmas cuddles. Bliss.

Hello!

A new year, a new blog, my first post! Welcome to my new little adventure, a journal in photo's and thoughts, of my little family's first full year together.
Here we are!
